Distinctives of CanIL
Canada Institute of Linguistics courses are held at Trinity Western University, located in Langley, British Columbia.
CanIL integrates scholarship with service to language communities worldwide. CanIL provides a streamlined sequence of courses to prepare students for language and culture learning, literacy-based development, and Bible translation.
At CanIL, SIL training is packaged into three course sets which may all be completed in less than one year: CanIL One (9 weeks, summer), CanIL Two (fall semester), CanIL Three (spring semester). These courses can be integrated into the following degrees:
- Master of Arts in Linguistics degree through TWU
- Master of Applied Linguistics and Exegesis (MLE) through one of the seminaries in the consortium of Associated Canadian Theological Schools on the TWU campus.
- Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics degree through TWU
- Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate through TWU Extension.
