Introduction

The Master of Arts in Linguistics (MA Ling) is a graduate program oriented toward academic field work. It prepares you to analyze and describe the linguistic structures of language and to put previously unwritten languages into writing. Upon graduation, you will be prepared for careers in linguistics, literacy and translation. This program will also prepare you for further work at the doctoral level in linguistics. Information including an application form may be obtained here.

Faculty involved in this program are PhD level in the two major areas of the degree (both applied and analytical linguistics). Teaching assistants are at the MA level or higher. All faculty have extensive field experience to complement their areas of expertise such as computer applications, literacy, community development or Bible translation in languages around the world.

The MA Ling program may be completed in two years of full time study, provided that there are not additional requirements of prerequisite courses or thesis research.
