Degree Prep/Core Pack
Degree preparation / Core Pack
(training duration: summer plus 2-4 years)
This has been our most popular summer track. The Core Pack fulfills the prerequisites for entering the CanIL graduate degree programs (MA Linguistics or Masters in Applied Linguistics and Exegesis). For those pursuing the BA Linguistics degree, it provides core course credits.
These courses provide the basis for future courses in linguistics,
whether at CanIL or elsewhere. These courses also provide an excellent basis
for language learning, and are suitable for those planning
careers in Teaching English as a Second Language or for those planning
to work in a cross-cultural or multi-lingual situation anywhere in the
world. Students who already have taken linguistics classes may wish to
substitute other classes for certain of these courses, after
consultation with the Academic Coordinator. For more information on various
CanIL degree programs and the TESL certificate, go to www.canil.ca
A completed degree program at CanIL prepares you for a large variety of roles in SIL International and other cross-cultural work.
A degree in linguistics also provides excellent background for further studies in a number of different domains and preparation for a variety of careers. Refer to "Why major in linguistics?" for more information.
