Training

  • We specialize in Bible translation, linguistics, endangered language preservation, literacy development and TESL.
  • The Oregon Summer Institute of Linguistics (ORSIL) recently merged with CanIL's summer program providing a broader range of courses during the summer.
  • First summer courses provide core training in phonetics, language learning and other foundational language analysis skills ideal for cross-cultural language work.
  • Additional courses can be taken in subsequent summers. Our summer training packages provide the training needed to meet pre-field requirements for a number of organizations.
  • The first summer package fulfills the prerequisites for entering into CanIL graduate training programs (M.A. Linguistics and Masters in Linguistics and Exgesis). Students considering these degree programs are highly encouraged to attend the summer session to help facilitate the best course sequencing for beginning graduate studies in the fall.
  • Most advanced courses can be taken for either graduate or undergraduate credit.
  • Course credits can be transferred into CanIL and other degree programs.
  • It is recommended that approval be made with the receiving institution prior to attending classes to ensure that class content matches the destination university course requirements for maximum transferability, etc.
