Some international students will have additional admissions requirements. The exact details of these requirements will depend on the program for which you are applying, and the level of study of interest to you (undergraduate vs. graduate). Here are some general details, mainly pertaining to graduate studies at CanIL West.
Applicants with academic transcripts from institutions outside of Canada and the United States will be required to have them evaluated by a third party organization to determine grade equivalency in the North American grading systems, and to translate the document if necessary. We work with four different organizations, and will provide additional details after receiving an application.
CanIL’s programs are hosted entirely in English. In order to help our international students thrive academically, we have strict requirements about English proficiency. Applicants who learned English as a secondary language should be prepared to demonstrate their English proficiency.
- ENGLISH EXAMS: CanIL accepts the Academic IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo test scores, with varying requirements depending on the level of study you wish to pursue. Contact CanIL Admissions (email@example.com) for more information.
- EXEMPTIONS: International students from the following countries are exempt from this requirement: Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, United States, United Kingdom, Jamaica, Hispaniola, Anguilla, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Grenada, Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, the Bahamas, and Bermuda. International students who do not qualify for the above exemption but have studied at the university level for at least three (3) years in Canada or the United States may request consideration for exemption.
