Every part of CanIL flows from that one sentence. We train people in the craft of language — analysis, documentation, literacy, translation — and prepare them to work alongside communities whose languages have been pushed to the margins. The goal isn't only that a language survives, but that the people who speak it can learn, build, and worship in the words they know best.

We do this as followers of Jesus, in the conviction that everyone deserves to encounter God in their own language. CanIL works in that conviction alongside Bible translation organizations, churches, universities, the international development community, and language communities around the world.
