CanIL - PAONL Joint Scholarship

The Canada Institute of Linguistics and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland and Labrador (PAONL) are excited to announce a joint scholarship that will fund 75% of tuition costs for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics at Tyndale University.

The vision driving this program is the desire to come alongside individuals from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador who have responded to God’s call on their lives and want to serve language communities in the world that still do not have access to the Scriptures.

Who may apply?

  • The scholarship is awarded by the PAONL to an individual of their choosing. Those interested should contact Rebecca Jenson at rjenson@tyndale.ca. Adherents of PAONL churches will receive first consideration. Only one scholarship will be awarded per year. (Please note that if the scholarship is not available, you may still apply for other financial aid.)

Expectations

A student who is awarded the scholarship will receive $1,100 per course up to a maximum of 40 courses (based on 3 credit-hour courses). Recipients must:

  • be enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics (Major) at Tyndale University;
  • maintain a grade of B (3.0 GPA) in all linguistic courses;
  • be intent on joining Wycliffe Bible Translators and serving with Wycliffe for one full year after graduation; and
  • be endorsed by the PAONL for the scholarship.
